With rides and attractions suitable for kids and adults, Adventure Cove Waterpark at Resorts World Sentosa Singapore is splashing good fun for the whole family.
UPDATED: 3 November 2024 (Add additional info, updated with latest ticket prices)
My girls have been asking to visit Adventure Cove and I can't believe it took us a year to return 😅 Other than lighting warning cutting short our visit, we still had lotsa fun (see below for more deets) with the wave pool, adventure river and Riptide Rocket still our faves! I've updated this post with more and updated info😉
Original post: 12 September 2023
The last time we went to Adventure Cove at Resorts World Sentosa Singapore was seven years go when my girls were 4 and 6 years old. At those age, they weren't up for rides (probably didn't meet height requirements too!) so my hubs went alone for the rides while the three of us only went for the less thrilling stuff like Seahorse Hideaway, Bluewater Bay and Adventure River.
Now my girls are older at at 11 and 13, we could go for all the rides such that I really enjoyed our recent trip to Adventure Cove a lot more! My girls also had a lot more fun at the wave pool which when they younger, felt rather daunting to them. So now that we've tried out almost all the attractions at Adventure Cove, I'm happy to share our review and 8 tips if you're visiting the water park with your kid!
1) Check if your child meets height requirements
I feel that the rides at Adventure Cove are milder and less thrilling compared to other water parks like Wild Wild Wet or Escape in Penang so they are less scary for those who might not be up for more exciting rides.
But even if your kid are okay with thrilling water rides, there are height requirements for them. Generally, children under 122cm in height need to be accompanied by a supervising adult for all rides and attractions there.
For these rides below, you need to be above 107cm to ride:
Dueling Racer (racing water slides); Rainbow Reef (snorkeling pool); Riptide Rocket (hydro-magnetic water coaster).
For these rides below you need to be above 122cm to ride:
Pipeline Plunge (high speed water slide); Spiral Washout (water slide).
So if you have younger ones below 107 cm, they can only go for Seahorse Hideaway (shallow wading pool), Bluewater Bay (wave pool), Adventure River (slow-moving river) and Big Bucket Treehouse (water playground).
For more details on the rides, see Adventure Cove's website.
2) Look out for promo prices at Adventure Cove's website
Adventure Cove's standard entrance fees are at S$40 for adults (ages 13 and above)
and $32 for children (ages 4 to 12).
Singapore residents with an official Singapore photo ID (NRIC, Employment Pass, S Pass, Work Permit, Work Holiday Pass, Dependent’s Pass, Long Term Visit Pass or Student’s Pass) can get cheaper rates at $35 for adults and $28 for children. Do note that this Singapore residents rate is only available on Adventure Cove's website (they are not available if you purchase at ticketing counter at venue) and must be booked 1 day in advance. That means if you're going on 1 December, the last day to buy your ticket at the Singapore resident rate is 30 November - the tickets won't be available on 1 December.
Occasionally, there are promos at Adventure Cove's website. The last time we checked the Singapore resident rate included dining and retail vouchers, which makes it more worthwhile as you can save on dining at the park. Klook only sells standard tickets so we just went for the Singapore residents' tickets. For our latest visit, we purchased a family package for two adults and 1 child at $80, and another single adult ticket at $40 (which includes a $10 F&B voucher) promo with UOB credit card.
Again, other than checking the website for promo packages and prices, the main thing is to see if the ticket can be purchased on the day or visit, or does it need to be purchased at least a day ahead.
3) Check weather forecast before booking tickets
When booking tickets, you'll need to choose select your visiting date. So I only booked my tickets the day before I was going (as I booked the Singapore resident tickets) after checking the weather forecast for the next day. And just keep my fingers crossed that the weather forecast is accurate!
That said, those living in Singapore would know that Singapore weather can be a bit unpredictable. During our latest visit, our fun was cut short as there was lightning alert around 2pm, so all outdoor attractions (which really is almost everything) were suspended. Despite waiting till 3pm, the alert was not lifted, so we decided to leave rather than waste our time hanging around.
Do note that in such an event where rides need to be suspended due to inclement weather, there is no refund for your ticket. So other than checking the weather forecast, I would advise going earlier when the park opens at 10am, rather than later as thunderstorms tend to happen in the afternoons in Singapore.
4) Arrive early for shorter ride queues
The ride queues are shorter earlier in the day (but not for long!) like the hour after the park opens at 10am.
I suggest heading for Riptide Rocket once the park opens - this hydro-magnetic water coaster is arguably the best ride in the waterpark and very popular. We queued for 15-20 minutes for the ride when we arrived at 10-plus in the morning. Thereafter the queues for the rides were around 40-50 minutes later in the day.
Ride queues were around 30 minutes for most of the rides during the school holiday when we were there, which are still reasonable, especially after we had recently experienced hour-long queues from our Universal Studios Japan trip. Haha!
5) Check permitted attire before going
The allowed attire at Adventure Cove is quite wide. Swim wear, wet suits, board shorts, round neck tee-shorts, swimming diapers, goggles, water shoes are all okay. Adventure Cove's advisory says clothes with buttons and zippers are not allowed but I'm assuming this is referring to those with these items hanging out? Cos board shorts have zippers and buttons! Jeans, jackets, long skirts and attire with buckles are not allowed.
6) Go for lockers near centre of park
Lockers which you can reopen for the rest of your hire are available at the water park. When you enter the park, you'll pass a locker and toilet area on the left. Instead of keeping your stuff here, go for the locker area near Seahorse Hideaway/Dueling Racers. In case you need to retrieve things from your locker, this area would be more centralised for doing so.
7) Water coolers available
Adventure Cove doesn't allow outside food and water but not to worry, there are water coolers there which you can refill your bottles with. There are also food stands and a restaurant there.
8) Be prepared to queue for toilets if you're leaving near closing time
Queues can get pretty long when you leave close to closing time at 5pm. We went to change at the toilets at 430pm and already the queues are pretty long. I wish there is some place I could tell you to go for shorter queues but all the toilets had long queues by then. So I would suggest finishing and changing as early as 4pm if you don't want to queue at the toilets.
Adventure Cove is located towards the end of the SEA Aquarium at Sentosa. It is open daily, except Wednesday, from 10am-5pm.
My girls had so much fun they are asking to go Adventure Cove again soon - in particular they love the wave pool and Adventure River - so the waterpark is definitely on the cards for the year end holiday!
What other fun waterparks have you been to? 😊
