End of an Era, the final instalment to the Amazing Ash & Superhero Ah Ma middle grade graphic novel series, is fun yet touching story that sheds light on dementia.
The story of Amazing Ash & Superhero Ah Ma by Melanie Lee and Arif Rafhan comes to an end in this third and last instalment of the graphic novel series. In End of an Era, Ash and friends are not the same crime-fighting team without Ah Ma, who is out of action because of her worsening dementia. However, when Ah Ma's daycare centre comes under threat from a mysterious couple planning to demolish the centre, the team has to come together in one last mission to prevent the baddies from winning.
Like the two earlier books of the series, End of an Era is a fun yet touching story about family love and friendship. While shedding light on dementia, it also advocates understanding and compassion for both sufferers of the condition and their caregivers.
As a mum and caregiver myself, this series spoke to me on so many levels, and at the same time, is such an engaging and educational read for younger readers. I highly recommend this middle-grade series to those 8 years old and up. This series is available all good bookstores 😉
Thank you, Difference Engine, for sending this over and letting us be a part of the journey of these unlikely but amazing superheroes. I'm sad that this would the last book of the Amazing Ash series but what a wonderful ride it has been with Ah Ma, Ash and friends!
