In this fantasy story, Christopher discovers the Archipelago, a cluster of islands where mythical creatures like unicorns, griffins and dragons live alongside humans. He befriends Mal, a girl who is pursued by a killer, and upon learning that the magic protecting the Archipelago is fading, they embark on a quest to save the islands and its magical creatures. Their journey is fraught with danger as they encounter mythical beasts and treacherous humans, but it also has them discovering about love, hope and heartache.

This is one story I would love to see being made into a movie – what a visual spectacle it would be given its fantastic worldbuilding, and twisty and fast-paced storyline! The Guardian’s Bestiary at the start of the story comes with illustrations and description of the magical creatures and is great for referring to when readers come across them along the quest. I highly recommend this for tweens and those older who love a good fantasy adventure.
