Joji's Diner serves up tasty American comfort food in a cool retro setting.
We've been seeing Joji's Diner in social media for a while. The cafe looks attractive with the 1980s, American-style decor and their all-day breakfast looks really palatable. We heard that there you'd have to queue during peak hours!
Well, we finally got to visit the cafe this school holiday. I'm glad to say the environment was really as lovely as what we've seen in pictures, and our orders of generous portions such that we were stuffed by the end of our meal.
Here's what we had for lunch and our review:
Smash Burger (S$14.50)
This burger comes with two 70% beef, 30% lamb smashed patties, bacon, cheese, mustard, pickles, onions and curly fries. The burger patties were thick and flavourful, and the bacon fried till crispy. A good portion, making it a very filling burger. It would be nice if there were some greens to go with it.
Duck on Mash (S$19.90)
A duck leg confit for 9 hours served with mashed potato, French onion sauce, fresh greens and portobello mushroom. The duck leg was tender and flavourful, and the fluffy mash, a very generous portion.
Bird Burger (S$11.90)
This is a fried chicken thigh burger topped with a slaw and ketchup mayo, served with curly fries. The chicken was crispy, giving it a very nice, tasty crunch when you sink your teeth into it. Sinfully delicious, and would feel less sinful if there were greens to go with it!
Loaded spuds (S$9.90)
Fries with beef chilli, nacho cheese, garlic aioli and mozzarella. This is a good appetiser to share at the table. The beef chilli is not too spicy and goes well with the cheeses and garlic aioli. You can choose between fries or tatertots for this.
Here's the rest of the menu:
It looks like a nice place to grab breakfast and brunch too.
Joji's Diner has recently expanded to the unit next door.
The menu's different with a focus on sandwiches.
Looks palatable too!
We'll be back to try this another day!
If you're heading to Joji's Diner, here are some bonus tips for your trip:
1) Joji's Diner is located at 534 Upper Serangoon Rd, Singapore 534549 and is open 24 hours. It's an 8-minute walk from Serangoon MRT. Coupon roadside parking is available on the street the cafe is located at but parking lots are limited.
2) The main cafe is pretty popular. By 12pm on the weekday we were there, it was already full house and some people were queuing outside. Best to arrive before 12pm for lunch if you don't want to wait!
3) In comparison, the newly opened Joji's Sandwich Parlour next door is less crowded, and there were still a few empty tables when we were leaving at 1230pm. If you don't want to wait during peak dining hours, you could always try the new menu next door!
Will update again when we try Joji's new menu!
