Look on the Bright Side is a heartfelt and relatable upper middle grade graphic novel about four friends dealing with teenager issues like friendship, crushes and growing up.
Book recommendation from Little E: Look on the Bright Side by Lily Williams & Karen Schneemann 🌞
"In the sequel to the well-acclaimed contemporary graphic novel, Go With The Flow, comes a heartwarming story following best friends Brit, Abby, Christine and Sasha as they navigate their way through first loves, friendships and drama at Hazelton High. From juggling schoolwork to crushes, this book is relatable and will make you laugh, cry and cheer as the four overcome the challenges they face. The book's beautiful illustrations and well-paced storyline makes it an amazing read for upper middle grade readers."
This graphic novel was introduced to me by Little E and I wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't read the first book of the series. But I found myself finishing it in one sitting as I was immersed in the story and the relatable issues teenagers face like friendship, crushes, identity crisis and bodily changes.
LGBTQIA+ themes are thoughtfully addressed in the story, and the authors sum up beautifully in their notes: "We can choose what we do with the life we are given. We can work to make the world more kind and inclusive...but mostly we can do it by being good to the people around us."
