Since reading The Awakening Storm - first book of the City of Dragons middle-grade graphic novel series by Jaimal Yogis and Vivian Truong - my two girls have been eagerly awaiting the sequel. So when we found Rise of the Shadowfire, the newly-released sequel of the series at online bookstore, Experal Singapore @experal.hq , we couldn't wait to get our hands on it! Here is my girls' review:

In the first book, Grace moves to Hong Kong with her mum and new stepdad, and amidst settling in to her new life, Grace discovers the existence of dragons. Together with her new friends, Grace has to uncover a plot threatening to abuse the dragons’ powers. In this sequel, Grace learns that the villain is searching for an ancient relic to control the dragons. She and her friends races against time to get to Paris to find the relic, while fending off attacks by other powerful dragons.

Little E says, “This series is fast-paced and exciting. I rooted for Grace, who is relatable and resilient. I also like that the action takes place in cities like Hong Kong and Paris." Big E adds, "The story's premise is unique while the illustrations by Truong are stunning and adds to the excitement of the interesting storyline.” We recommend this graphic novel for tweens and those older.
