Author talks by Vivian Teo and book-related highlights in the fourth quarter of 2024!
The fourth quarter of the year is typically quieter compared to the earlier quarters of the year due to end of year exams and school holidays, still the last quarter of 2024was a fulfilling one.
The Epic Tale of Mikaela Kong's book launch happened in early November at the National Library as part of the book launches at Singapore Writers Festival.
I had lots of fun sharing with everyone about my new book and the stories behind it. I was a lil nervous as I'm more used to school hall settings (the irony, I know 😅). Still, it was wonderful to see so many friends at my launch - some are my IG community whom I met for the first time in real life. It felt like such a nice gathering with friends.
It was also great to see the younger ones so engaged with decorating their photocards and making their monkey origami 🐵 Thank you Singapore Writers Festival, National Library Board and Epigram Books for your support of my book launch!
I also visited Red Swastika School in November and it was the first school I shared about The Epic Tale of Mikaela Kong. I was there on the day of the talk for book signing and on the second day of the book fair, I heard that most of my books were sold out. Thank you so much, RSS, for the warm welcome and overwhelming response!
Every November I look forward to Singapore Writers Festival and SWF 2024 was extra special because I got to chat with my writer friends - Low Ying Ping, Daryl Kho and Kayce Teo - about writing writing supernatural and fantasy stories in the panel "Imaginary Realms: The Magic Of Supernatural Stories panel" and to a full house, no less - it's wonderful seeing interest in #singlit and MG stories 🙏 Thank you, SWF, for having us at this panel!
I had a fruitful time at the SWF catching up with/meeting new friends, attending insightful talks and panel discussions, and having a go at escape room experience, Escape the Shelter. I also enjoyed hanging out at the festival bookstore where books by my yours truly were available, and always a pleasure catching up with Alex and team from Book Bar who worked tirelessly for a fortnight at the store and book signings ❤ I'm looking forward to next edition of the SWF! 🤗
